The World‘s Most Unique Hotels: The Ecologic and Futuristic Whitepod in the Swiss Alps

The Whitepod Hotel offers its guests a stay in the wild. Its main distinguishing feature is a different way of discovering the Swiss Alps. The design and functionality of the huts allow their guests to live in the wild with minimal interference with its natural processes. It’s an ecological, luxurious and futuristic “cocoon” hotel.

Whitepod was founded in 2004. At that time, it had only 5 cocoon-like huts, or pods, as they're known. Later, the complex grew to 15 significantly more luxurious dwellings. Now they are equipped with bathrooms and terraces.

The hotel is unique in that it’s completely divorced from city life, noise and pollution. Its contribution to environmental protection comes in the form of urging its guests to use as little water and electricity as possible, refrain from littering, and by educating them about the meaning and benefits of ecology. It also uses renewable sources of energy.

The hotel also offers its clients hiking expeditions, mountain biking sessions and two to three day camps of “survival in the wild”.

On weekdays, the cost of one pod (regardless of how many people sleep in it) is 290 Swiss francs (about 230 EUR) or 360 Swiss francs (about 290 EUR) on weekends.
